Verse of the Day:
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.”
— Colossians 3:15 (NKJV)

Who Rules Your Heart?

We often think of peace as a feeling—something passive that comes when conflict is absent. But Paul presents peace as something far more powerful: a ruler. He says, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.” In other words, don’t just feel peace—let peace take control.

To rule is to exercise authority, to govern, to have the final say. We’re usually resistant to being ruled. We guard our independence, our choices, our emotions. We want to be in charge. But in doing so, we often open the door to anxiety, frustration, and internal conflict.

So the question is: who truly governs your heart? Is it your emotions, your past, your fears, or your circumstances? Or is it the peace of Christ?

Paul reminds us that we were called to peace as members of one body. This means God never intended for us to live with inner turmoil or disunity. Christ’s peace is meant to be the master, not a guest in your life. It should override emotional chaos and bring calm in confusion. But that can only happen if we allow it to.

It takes humility to surrender the rule of your heart to Jesus. But when you do, peace no longer becomes a temporary feeling—it becomes your governing force. It leads you through decisions, steadies you in storms, and allows you to relate to others with compassion and patience.

And finally, Paul adds, “Be thankful.” Gratitude protects the peace of Christ. It reminds us of who God is, what He’s done, and why we can trust Him completely.

So today, yield control. Let Christ’s peace reign.

Closing Prayer:

Lord Jesus, I surrender my heart to Your rule. I have often allowed fear, stress, and self-will to lead me, but today I choose Your peace. Be the governor of my thoughts and emotions. Let Your peace quiet every storm within me and bring unity where there is division. Help me walk in continual gratitude, knowing You are always faithful. I give You full authority over my heart. Rule in me completely. Amen.
