Verse of the Day:
“I will establish one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them—My servant David. He shall feed them and be their shepherd. And I, the Lord, will be their God, and My servant David a prince among them; I, the Lord, have spoken.”
— Ezekiel 34:23–24 (NKJV)
A Shepherd Who Never Abandons
In this passage, God gives a powerful and comforting promise to a scattered and wounded people. Israel had suffered under unfaithful leaders—those who neglected their spiritual care and used their position for selfish gain. The sheep were scattered, starving, and unprotected. But God intervenes and declares: “I will place over them one shepherd.”
That Shepherd is none other than Jesus Christ, the Son of David. While King David once shepherded Israel with integrity, it is Jesus—the Good Shepherd—who eternally fulfills this role with unmatched tenderness, protection, and provision. His shepherding isn’t just administrative; it is deeply personal.
Jesus doesn’t just watch from a distance—He walks with us. He knows each of His sheep by name. When one is lost, He goes after it. When one is wounded, He binds it up. When one is weary, He gives rest. The imagery of a shepherd is not one of power over people, but of sacrificial love and nurturing care.
You may feel overwhelmed, uncertain, or even distant from God. But know this: you are never out of the Shepherd’s reach. He tends to your heart when it’s broken, feeds your soul when it’s dry, and walks beside you even in the darkest valleys. He never forsakes His own.
Let this truth anchor your day: Jesus, your Shepherd, is not only guiding you—He is guarding you. He offers you peace in anxiety, grace in weakness, and victory in every spiritual battle. You don’t have to carry life alone. The Shepherd is near.
Prayer
May the good shepherd Himself tend you with peace, grace and victory over your lives today and always. Amen
