Verse of the Day:
“Now may the God of peace, who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
— Hebrews 13:20-21 (NKJV)

Equipped for His Will

This passage is more than a closing benediction—it is a prayer brimming with hope and promise. The author of Hebrews reminds us that our equipping does not come from human institutions or clever techniques, but from the God of peace Himself, through Jesus Christ, the great Shepherd of the sheep. He is the one who has risen from the dead, securing for us an eternal covenant sealed with His own blood. This covenant guarantees not just our salvation, but our equipping—our readiness—to do His will.

Why is this important? Because doing God’s will is not about striving in our own strength or seeking approval from people. It is about being made complete, whole, and useful by God Himself. Our equipping comes through the work of the Holy Spirit, who aligns our hearts with God’s desires, empowering us to do what pleases Him.

We often look to others—pastors, teachers, leaders—to provide what only God can truly give. While God uses people to encourage and teach us, the ultimate source of our strength and ability is Jesus Himself, our Shepherd. He tends us, guides us, and nurtures us so we can walk boldly in obedience.

We are not called to half-hearted service or empty rituals. We are called to live lives that please God and reflect His glory. Anything less is wasted potential. As the text reminds us, He works in us what is pleasing in His sight. Our part is to remain open, humble, and willing to be molded.

Closing Prayer:

Lord Jesus, my great Shepherd, thank You for the covenant secured by Your blood. Equip me today with everything good to do Your will. Work in my heart what is pleasing to You. Remove distractions and pride that keep me from being fully surrendered. Help me to rely on Your strength alone and to trust that You will supply all I need for every good work. May my life bring glory to You in everything I do. Amen.
