Verse of the Day:
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.”
— Jeremiah 17:7–8 (NKJV)

Rooted in God, Unshaken by Storms

In a world marked by uncertainty, anxiety, and constant change, Jeremiah’s words come like a refreshing breeze to the soul. He draws a vivid picture of what life looks like for someone who places their trust in the Lord: a tree planted by the waters, deeply rooted, always nourished, and continually fruitful.

This kind of person is not easily shaken by heat—symbolic of trials, pressures, or stressful seasons. When drought comes, they do not shrivel in despair, because their source is not surface-level. Their roots go deep into the living waters of God’s faithfulness.

That’s the power of trusting in the Lord. It stabilizes us. It gives us confidence not because we know the future, but because we know the One who holds it.

Whether you’re a parent raising children, a student navigating school, or a believer facing difficult decisions, this verse reminds you: you are blessed when your confidence is in God. You will flourish—not just in ideal circumstances—but even in drought seasons. You will bear fruit when others wither. That’s the unshakable advantage of trusting in the Lord.

Prayer

This year’s VBS theme comes from Jeremiah 17:7 and indeed happy and blessed is you when you make the Lord the cornerstone of your life. Even as you look at that beautiful kid, teen and wonder how it shall be; have confidence in Him. What a beautiful theme for us at a time like this and let us all join hands in prayer and support in whichever way the Lord leads us. Amen.
