Being an Ever-Winning Servant

Theme: Being an Ever-Winning Servant
Song: I Am a Soldier in the Army of the Lord

Before I begin, I want to share what I’ve learned about the power of prayer and praise. In Acts 16:25 we read: “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.” Even though they had been beaten and thrown into prison, they still prayed and sang praises. And through their praises, God sent an earthquake that opened the prison doors, leading not only to their freedom but also to the salvation of the jailer and his household.

This reminds us that even in our darkest situations, we must lift our voices in prayer and praise. As the Word says, “Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning.”

I have experienced this personally. As a child, I was often sick and had to be taken to the hospital. But my mother and I prayed—and through those prayers, I was healed. Up to this day, I no longer struggle with sickness. This is the power of prayer and faith in action.

God also promises us renewed strength. Isaiah 40:31a declares: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” We also see this echoed in Jeremiah 17:7-8: “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

This is what it means to surrender to the Lord—He blesses us, sustains us, and makes us fruitful. The question we must ask ourselves today is: Am I truly a servant of God?

Qualities of an Ever-Winning Servant

  1. Faithful in Challenges
An ever-winning servant remains faithful to God even in trials. Challenges will come—sickness, temptation, discouragement—but stay faithful. As we enter October, the season of distractions like Halloween, remember that the enemy tries to pull us into sin. Remain steadfast in God.

  2. Perseveres Through Discouragement
Life brings financial struggles, hunger, disappointments, and setbacks. But an ever-winning servant does not give up.

  3. Obedient to God’s Word
Obedience is both discipline and respect toward God. To be an ever-winning servant, we must accept His Lordship and obey His Word above all else.

  4. Lives with Honesty and Good Character
Honesty means being truthful in all things. Good character means being a role model, living in a way that reflects Christ. Do all things with integrity and a positive spirit.

  5. Trusts God in Difficult Times
Whether Paul and Silas in prison, Daniel in the lions’ den, or Joseph in the pit—God’s servants trusted Him, and He brought them through. In the same way, God will deliver you from whatever situation you face.

Declaration:
In everything you do, may you win just like Paul and Silas. May you win at your workplace, may you win at home, may you win at school, may you win everywhere—in Jesus’ Name!

Turn to your neighbor and declare: “I am a winner in Jesus’ Name!”

Now let us pray. God bless you all.
